Put the Lime in the Coconut, but Don't Drink it Up!

I get bored with grocery shopping...it's just so mundane, and I end up getting the same things over and over. Last Saturday I decided to change that, so I bought a COCONUT! Jeff  thought it was funny that I got so excited when picking the fruit up, shaking it, and hearing the splish splash of the white coconut milk inside, but admittedly he was way excited to crack it open too.

We decided to crack the coconut outside so it wouldn't explode all over the kitchen.
We thought a hammer might be the best option.

But when the hammer wasn't doing the trick (maybe we have a weak hammer?) we decided to search, "Best Ways to Open a Coconut" on Google.

Apparently, there are 3 tiny black holes at the top of every coconut that are softer than the actual coconut shell
Once we poked the holes through, I turned it over into a glass, full of anticipation to see the sweet white milk run out...

...BUT I was surprised; The anticipated creamy white and sweet milk turned out to be watery, clear, and bitter

At least it LOOKED authentic and cool!

Especially when we got it halfway open,

and peeled away the coconut meat with our teeth, which was yummy (yay!)

And that's how you:
1. Crack open a Coconut
2. Making shopping more fun :)

Yeah, I was super disappointed the first time I realized there is coconut water inside coconuts, not coconut milk. Not fair! :)
